Ferdinand Meyer V joined the FOHBC in 2003 and served as 2nd vice president before being elected president nine years later. He participated in a number of projects including the redesign and implementation of a new web site (FOHBC.org), the redesign and rejuvenation of the Federation’s journal, Bottles and Extras, and the development of brand and design standards for the FOHBC. He also is leading efforts to design the FOHBC Virtual Museum of Historical Bottles and Glass. Ferdinand is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and earned a BFA in Fine Art and Graphic Design from the Kansas City Art Institute and School of Design. He is the founding principal of FMG Design, a nationally recognized design consultation firm in Houston, Texas. He has become a passionate collector of American historical glass specializing in bitters bottles, color runs and related classic figural bottles. He is married to Elizabeth Jane Meyer and lives in Houston with their daughter and three grandchildren. The Meyers are also involved in Quarter Horses, antiques and early United States postage stamps.
